It is full stop mode. Forces the move to be completed before the next one
begins. In EMC, due to it's robotics heritage I am told, you get blending
that can occur when moving rapidly such that a square corner is actually
radiused. G61 forces EMC to follow each move exactly. I am assuming that
DeskNC Windows is based on EMC and as such would exhibit these rounding
tendencies at high feed rates. I did just try entering G61 in DeskNC Windows
and it accepts the command without failing. Don't know if it implements it,
but it does accept it.

The short answer is it keeps the machine from starting an XY move before the
bit is retracted all the way.
