Hi Chris,

I did three 8253' on a xt board several years ago (robot project). OK,
15 years ago. You can generate lots of rates, but the granularity of
available step rates gets bad at the high end, as has been mentioned.
PCI? I have no Idea. Doesn't sound like it's easy to wire wrap a board
for.

The DeskNC sounds like a step in the right direction (Ha! pun
intended). Or it might be fun to build up a PIC hung on a serial port!
I'm waiting to see/hear about DeskNC solution! If I understand
correctly, an interface specification will be available in the future!
