I've been looking at ballscrews and trying to figure out how to
calculate torque from linear pressure. Example, a 5/8" dia ballscrew
with .200 pitch, if I'm calculating for 200lbs of downforce how do I
get from there to the torque figure needed to drive it?

there's

That looks real workable. Nice guards too. I cut down the quill yoke
today and set it in the housing, and the left side really looks like
a good place for the screw. It can get in close and the nut would be
really easy to mount, but the end mount for the screw would be more
trouble. However it would be well protected by the housing itself.

At the moment I'm working on installing a worm and pinion so I can
use the head tilt. That part was left out so I'm trying to adapt
parts from an old gear reducer. Then I'll clean up the cuts I made
with the grinder to get everything flat and square. That should give
me some good mounting points for the motor and screw end bearing.
