Re: Moog: Servo for Z?

I've torn down the head and have the lower casting in the truck for
clean up and trimming. Anyone have a suggestion as to a good servo
to use here or how to best set it up? My thoughts are to cut away
the side housings which contained the hydraulic actuators, eliminate
the manual feed handle and shaft altogether, cut the heavy side off
the quill coupling yoke and mount a ballscrew and servo on the left
side. Anyone think this is good/bad? I haven't got the ballscrew for
it yet. This machine has a 2 hp head and will occasionally be used
for drilling large holes so the servo package will need to be able
to generate quite a bit of downforce.
