Well, I'm not familiar with the Moog head, but that generally sounds OK.
You want to
keep the ballscrew as close to the center of mass of the head, and as
close a possible
to between the dovetail (or other) ways, to prevent a rocking force on
the head.

The Bridgeport power quill feed has an overload clutch set for 200 Lbs
of linear
force. You may want to set it up for a bit more than that, depending on
the size
tooling you plan to use. You may need a quite massive ballscrew for this.
