"Ways" upon which part slide when used in a transfer machine are usually
referred to as "rails".

Sometimes "ways" made from round shafting use solid bushings instead of ball
bearing units. Purists might say that the round "ways" are more properly
called guide bars, irregardless of the type of bearings used.
