teflon coatings was Re: machine ways

Hello,

Many suppliers of leadscrews and nuts will apply a teflon coating to
the screw, if asked to do so. Most send it out to have this done, and
I suspect the baking on entails more than a spray can and home oven...
But it can't hurt to try, right?

As to the softness and wear mentioned by Jon, there is a line of
plane bearings by pacific beariong that REQUIRE the shaft to be rough
(relatively speaking) so that the bearing material, which they call
Frelon, I think, will be "worn" from the bearing and deposited on the
shaft purposefully.

Hope this helps.
