Maybe somebody can answer at least one specific question:

Does anybody know what is the minimum print head speed required for decent
results?

Most of the rather flimsy-looking mechanisms I've seen in photos appear to
be belt-driven, and I've seen at least one assertion that high speed
produces better results in commercial machines. So is there a lower bound,
and if so, what?
